No-exam life insurance
What accelerated underwriting covers, how it operates, and choices when you don't meet the criteria.
Many insurers now provide accelerated underwriting: for age and amount limits, they approve based on application details, medication history, driving records and other information instead of a medical exam. Approvals sometimes arrive immediately. Each rate shown here indicates whether exams are mandatory, potential, or skipped for that product.
What it changes
Accelerated evaluation isn't the same as no evaluation. Responses get validated; a policy based on untrue information can be challenged in the first 24 months. Should the carrier's records suggest concerns, they might request medical exams or lab tests; you decide whether to move forward.
Who tends to qualify
Generally, applicants below approximately 60 seeking amounts within the carrier's limit, with no serious health concerns and no nicotine use recently qualify. If blood work from a recent checkup is available, some insurers will use it instead of an exam.
An exam, when required, usually means a 20–30 minute appointment with a paramedical examiner, either at your location in the Goleta area or theirs, at no charge to you. For healthy applicants, test results often result in rate improvements, so an exam might actually benefit you.
